Prosecutor Ito, press club, footage before the arrest of Shigenori Kanemoto<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On July 27, 2026, the Prosecutors Union attempted to provide information regarding the investment fraud damages involving Company N to the Special Criminal Division of the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The person who answered the phone, identifying themselves as \"Prosecutor Kobayashi,\" tried to confirm the informant's name and contact information, but ended the call without listening to the specific information about the damage until the end and without providing instructions on where to submit materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, the prosecutors' union received anonymous information stating that the existence of this phone call was known within the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, information has been received from another source that in addition to Prosecutor Kobayashi, a prosecutor known as \"Prosecutor Ito\" was also involved in the Shigenori Kanemoto case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this time, Prosecutor Ito's kanji spelling, official title, and scope of responsibility have not been confirmed. This article does not assert that he is the person in charge, but rather calls for confirmation from the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is mysterious is that while information trying to enter the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office from the prosecutor union is cut off at the entrance, information regarding who took the phone calls, who is in charge of the cases, and what kind of investigative policies are being taken inside the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office continues to leak outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why was the phone call to Prosecutor Kobayashi immediately shared within the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the call, Prosecutor Kobayashi repeatedly asked who told him that he was in charge, who the specific union member was, what the relationship was between the caller and Mr. Shigenori Kanemoto, and whether he could provide contact information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Prosecutor Kobayashi stated the following even before we investigated the information leak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it's related to the investigation or something like that, being out and about so much isn't really a good idea.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, we received a tip from someone who knew that the prosecutors' union had called Prosecutor Kobayashi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The source claims to be in a position to know the internal affairs of the prosecution, but the prosecutors' union will not disclose their identity. Furthermore, that claim alone does not confirm that information leaked from within the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, if the existence of the phone call was shared internally in a short time and that fact was leaked to the outside again, it would mean that the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office's information management is strict regarding information coming from the outside, but shockingly loose regarding information going out from the inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prosecutor's Union has received information that, apart from Prosecutor Kobayashi, an \"attorney Ito\" was involved in the Shigenori Kanemoto case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is Prosecutor Ito actually handling the case?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you in charge of the interrogation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even so, it is worth examining the fact that someone had identified and photographed Shigenori Kanemoto months before his arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the media outlets had been staked out there since that time, from whom did they learn that Shigenori Kanamoto was a subject of the investigation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the footage was provided after the arrest, why had the provider been following Shigenori Kanemoto since January and March?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A system where investigative information is leaked to the press club and counter-information is not accepted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Investigative public relations through the press club plays the role of communicating the suspect's arrest, the name of the crime, and the facts of the alleged offense to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, if the media, which receives selective information from investigative agencies, reports the prosecution's theory as-is with terms like \"embezzlement,\" \"kickbacks,\" or \"denial,\" a social image of guilt is established before the trial even takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon receiving information from the opposite direction suggesting that Mr. Shigenori Kanemoto might be a victim of an investment fraud orchestrated by defendants Toshiyuki Nakano and Satoshi Saito, Prosecutor Kobayashi refuses to listen to the end of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This asymmetry is the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information outlining the prosecution's scenario is leaked to the media months before the arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evidence that contradicts the prosecution's scenario is dismissed at the outset on the grounds that the source is anonymous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In that state, the press club becomes a delivery network for prosecutors' announcements, and the prosecutors' union becomes a collection point for undelivered opposing documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prosecutors' union is not \"an organization that publishes uncertain information as fact.\"<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Prosecutors Union is not an investigative agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have neither the authority to request a warrant, nor to conduct searches and seizures, nor to conduct compulsory questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, at the stage where the information is provided, it is not possible to make a final judgment on its truth or falsity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some reporters within the news media have also begun contacting the prosecutors' union, stating that the prosecution's announcements alone do not reveal the full picture of the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In search of scoops, rather than the press club which simply waits for unpublished briefings from investigative agencies, opposition materials sometimes gather faster at labor unions, where frontline workers, retirees, victims, and whistleblowers connect directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not a story to mock the old media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is about how, if reports only cover information leaked from investigative agencies and fail to cover information from the victims harmed by those leaked narratives, reporting simply becomes a one-way mouthpiece for the authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receiving undisclosed information behind the scenes is not the only form of investigative journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Checking the evidence from both sides regarding a public question is also the job of the news media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The information itself does not disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      You are free to be wary of articles by the Prosecutors Union and to be nervous about identifying your sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      However, what should be guarded against is not public interest open questions, but a structure where investigative information leaks from within their own ranks, leading to the arrest of individuals without being subjected to counter-evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Times are shifting from an era when investigative agencies distributed pre-written scenarios exclusively to press clubs to an era where involved parties release primary source materials through labor unions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The way to stop the information isn't by hanging up the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
